Prefatory Note
This volume addresses some of the most persistent misconceptions posed against Islam, both from within the Muslim community and from external critics. Its primary aim is to refute prominent specious arguments raised by atheists and others—arguments often intended to distort Islam’s image and undermine its credibility.
The chapters are carefully structured as follows:
•The first chapter introduces foundational concepts that every Muslim should know to effectively dismantle false claims and specious arguments about Islam.
•The second chapter explains the difference between religious obsessive thoughts and specious arguments about Islam, and how to address each. It specifically examines al-waswās al-qahrī (religious obsessive-compulsive disorder), exploring how compulsive thoughts and faith-disturbing whispers affect Muslims and overlap with creedal specious arguments.
•The third chapter responds to the most widely circulated atheistic allegations against Islam.
•The fourth chapter exposes and refutes deviant ideas gaining traction in some Muslim circles, including rejection of the Sunnah, feminism, the law of attraction, and other popular but misleading notions.
•Finally, the fifth chapter presents selected proofs from among the many evidences affirming the truth of Islam and strengthening one’s path to yaqīn (certainty)—unwavering certainty in Allāh, Exalted is He. The concluding chapter on certainty of faith brings the discourse full circle, reminding the reader of the core essence and purpose of Islam, the nature of worship, and the ultimate fruits of true submission to Allah, the Glorious and Exalted.
Throughout, the volume also confronts difficult questions about God’s existence, the nature of miracles, free will, and science. It offers answers to many of the most quoted atheistic objections with clear, well-reasoned, evidence-based responses rooted in both the Qurʾān and the Sunnah, as well as supported by findings from modern science. This volume encourages believers to approach doubts and specious arguments with knowledge, patience, and proper inquiry, emphasizing that questioning is a natural stage in sincere faith, not a reason for rejection. It is hoped that this volume serves as a vital resource for Muslims seeking clarity amid confusion and for seekers of truth drawn toward Islam. May it inspire steadfastness, deepen understanding, and strengthen conviction so the path to Allāh’s guidance is walked with confidence, knowledge, and tranquility.
