How can scriptural prophecies be used as evidence if the Torah and the Bible have been distorted?
The Qurʾān affirms the authenticity of the Jewish and Christian Scriptures, as the Torah and the Bible were not entirely corrupted. For this reason, the Qurʾān called upon the People of the Book to judge in accordance with the law revealed by Allāh in their own Scriptures. Allāh says: {Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Bring the Torah and read it, if your claims are true”} (Qurʾān 3:93). Similarly, He says: {So let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allāh has revealed in it} (Qurʾān 5:47). The Prophet (PBUH) called upon the Jews to judge in accordance with the commandments revealed by Allāh in the Torah during the well-known incident of fornication. He (PBUH) said: “I adjure you by Allāh Who revealed the Torah to Moses, what [punishment] do you find in the Torah for a person who commits fornication if he is married?”1

Additionally, the Prophet (PBUH) said: “Relate [traditions] from the Children of Israel, and there is no sin in doing that.”2 This demonstrates that the Scriptures of the People of the Book contain a significant degree of truth. Moreover, the Qurʾān affirms the prophecies in the Scriptures of the Jews and Christians as sufficient evidence for the truth of the message of the Prophet (PBUH). Even today, numerous prophecies within the Torah and the Bible continue to confirm that Muḥammad (PBUH) is indeed the Seal of the Prophets—that is, the final Messenger.
